Expansion of an upscale apartment complex in Perrysburg is under way and could be open to tenants as early as mid-July.

The $13-million project at the Residences at Carronade includes five buildings with a total of 108 apartments. The outside of the structures will be identical to the first set of buildings opened, and inside, the units will have stainless steel appliances, plank floors, and a variety of color schemes, said Kristen Szymoniak, property manager.

The apartments are at 26797 Carronade Dr., between Fremont Pike and Eckel Junction Road.

The complex, which will have 1, 2, and 3-bedroom units, also has business and fitness centers, a dog park, and a salt water pool. The first phase, which opened in 2011, consists of six apartment buildings with 140 units, which Mrs. Szymoniak said are in high demand and thus the reason for the expansion.

“We’re pretty much always full,” she said. “We have people moving out one week and new tenants moving in the next. We’re hoping it’s the same with the new units.”

Brody Walters, Perrysburg planning and zoning administrator, said the city has a growing customer base for apartments, but not necessarily a need for new apartments.

“We have a fair number of apartments and rental properties in the city in all sizes and price ranges,” Mr. Walters said. “There may be a market [for apartments] because Perrysburg is a desirable place to live. I’m not sure that there is a need, but there are customers.”

Construction on Phase 2 began in October and all buildings will be completed by December. Rental rates haven’t been set, but units in Phase 1 rent for $910 to $1335 a month.
